Botanics was born from humble beginnings in the family garage. Operating as a floral design studio for the first three years, the focus was commercial work for corporate, events, pr, and styling jobs, while a retail customer base was slowly evolving behind the scenes.

Expansion saw a move in November 2019 to its current location on Hinemoa Street in the picturesque Birkenhead Point. With it's village vibe, eclectic range of businesses, friendly community spirit and close proximately to Auckland CBD it seemed like the perfect atmosphere for a boutique style flower store.

Founder Deb Mihaljevich has a background in fashion design moving into floristry at a later date following in the footsteps of her beloved Nana. Professionally trained she draws inspiration from natures offerings, her love of colour, texture, form, and attention to detail. Her philosophy is simplistic, connections are key in the flower industry. Creating, organising, arranging, communicating, visualising, interacting or installing are all ways in which to connect people, their emotions, their special occasions whether in real-life everyday situations or from their work perspective. This is the motivation that drives Botanics.

What you can expect from Botanics

We operate as a full-service florist with delivery service in the Auckland region only. We pride ourselves on our personal customer service, are passionate about offering the best available seasonable cut flowers, foliage's and plants from local NZ growers.

Flowers used for our dried options are all dried by ourselves. We love to support local and stock hand thrown ceramics, candles, chocolates, cards along with other gift options all made here in NZ.

Our in-store collections of vintage and retro vases are often admired and available to purchase for a unique sustainable gift option with or without flowers.

Our floristry practices are environment conscious with a minimal wastage approach. For events we look for alternative options to eliminate any use of non-biodegradable floral foam. We wet wrap our bouquets with biodegradable bags, our green waste gets composted to a local company. Our flowers are wrapped in either white or brown kraft paper that can be recycled. Left over paper, ribbon ends or anything else suitable gets donated to local Kindy for their craft projects.

We are very approachable regarding local fundraising initiatives or community events. We are only a small business but have a big heart and will endeavour to try and contribute in some way where possible.
